DLive- Blockchainpowered streaming platform

DLive is a streaming platform that is working on the Lino blockchain. It is a new place where the streamers can share their content. They are using the crypto craze to bring in streamers and gift them with their cryptocurrency. Also, they managed to catch the Big Fish of YouTube! However, I don’t want to spoil the rest of the article for you, so let’s get to it.

What is DLive?

DLive is a platform that is made as a centralised live streaming community, and it works on the Lino Blockchain. You might be wondering what the Lino Blockchain is; well it is a decentralized blockchain that creates Lino Points daily. It uses a Proof-of-Stake model. Also, it can handle more than a thousand transactions per second.

What DLive believes; is that all the rewards that the participants on the streaming platform get belong to them. So they decided that they won’t take any fees, cuts, or even charge the makers of the content. Also, a big plus, they don’t have any pop-up ads which I believe you find annoying.

How does DLive make money, you ask? Their business model looks like this: they take 9.9% from gifting, micro-tipping, and subscriptions which were made by Lino member, and the 90.1% that is left goes back to content makers. And, so you can see the difference how small that is, YouTube, for example, takes 45%. DLive also has other competitors like DTube, LBRY, Theta, and Viuly.

A little bit about Lino blockchain

 Lino is claiming to run on a blockchain, well on a blockchain that nobody knows. Its whitepaper doesn’t really provide much detail about, and it is a little bit confusing.

They are saying that they use a Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus system. Now, the meaning of that is… well, I don’t really know since it is not explained at all. However, the system will have only 22 validators, and 7 of those validators are already being run by Lino.

What is really interesting is that the Lino blockchain has not been launched yet. One of the core members Lino team said that they are currently running on the testnet.

For the DLive, we don’t know if they’re running on the testnet; however, they were once running on the SteemBlockchain. After some time, the SteemBlockchain suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason, but DLive hasn’t stopped functioning.

So the blockchain hasn’t launched, yet Dlive says: “At DLive, we are changing the whole game by putting platform ownership in the hands of the users through blockchain technology.”

The token on the Lino Blockchain is the Lino token. It is an ERC20 token which is running on top of ethereum’sblockchain.  This type of ERC20 token is used on DLive to pay content makers and viewers.

How does DLive work?

Here I will explain the basics of how DLive works. So let’s get started!

How to make a DLive account?

Creating an account on DLive won’t take long. You have to go through the sing up process which is really easy. However, if you plan to make money by spending time on DLive, then when you sign up to make sure your email is connected to a PayPal account.

For the users that don’t live in the U.S., you can transfer the DLive funds to a bitcoin wallet.

Basics of DLive

For the majority of people, DLive is basically the same as Twitch. By paying a monthly fee you can subscribe to streams, and that will get you noticed by the streamers more often.

For currency, Lino Points are the way to go for DLive. Users of the platform give Lino Points as donations and also get them as a reward. If you have 88 Lino points, you can exchange them for 1.22 dollars, and you can purchase them on the site via a credit card or PayPal.

Viewers get rewards

When viewers subscribe to streams and are communicative with the DLive community, they will get a reward in the form of a Lock Lino Point every day. Depending on their engagement, they will be able to redeem a small amount of the Lock Lino Points.

Also, the points they receive can be gifted to a streamer, transferred to PayPal, or turned into Bitcoin. Holders of the points will receive some perks as well.

Locked Points perks

Holder of the Locked Lino Points will have an opportunity to shape the future of DLive. The platform gives daily questionnaires to Locked Lino Points holders to decide on the direction that DLive will move.

In the questionnaires, they will be allowed to vote on decisions that are related to DLive. Also, they will be able to make a request or vote on the upgrades that will be available in the future.

How to take money out?

When you are looking to cash out your money, you can transfer the Lino Points to a PayPal account or a Bitcoin wallet.

However, to take out your Lino Points, you will have to have at least 2,000 of them. Also, when you request a payment, you have to do it a minimum 3 days before Thursday and Sunday.

DLive split ways with Alex Jones

Even after announcing that they are dropping a channel made by a controversial radio host Alex Jones, DLive still has more than 400 of his videos on the website.

If you are not aware who Alex Jones is; he is the infamous radio host of Infowars. The radio show consists of conspiracy-theories that the far right people enjoy watching. The show is famous for its fake news and wild theories. Last year Alex Jones’s site was banned by YouTube, Facebook, Spotify, and Apple, because of his shameful claims. One of those claims was that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that sadly took lives of 26 people which were mostly children, was just a story that the U.S. government made up.

When a lawsuit was filed against him by a group of parents of the Sandy Hook victims; he claimed in a deposition that he is suffering from a form of psychosis allegedly. He also apologised to the parents and said that it was wrong of him to say that the shooting was a ruse by the U.S. government.

After a few days, DLive dropped him for violating the community guidelines that they have in which they don’t allow “hate speech that directly attacks a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sexual orientation, gender, or gender identity.”

Even after dropping him, Alex Jones’s channel is available on DLive. However, they are saying that also though the livestream is banned, removing the channel will take time, but they are working on it to be done as soon as possible.

DLive and PewDiePie form a partnership

After dropping Alex Jones, DLive announced they are partnering with PewDiePie. PewDiePie announced this himself in his daily meme review video. And PewDiePie started streaming officially on April 14th.

He is one of the most famous individual creators on YouTube, and it is impressive that DLive managed to get him on their platform. At least in the next few months, PewDiePie is planning on using just DLive for his weekly live-streams.

PewDiePie said that he was excited about streaming on DLive and that he feels that this partnership is real since he believes that they treat streamers as real partners. However, financial details about the agreement were not disclosed.

For his first DLive stream, he decided to donate between 10,000 and 50,000 dollars in Lino Points to streamers that are on the platform. This is his way of encouraging others to join.

With this partnership, DLive will undoubtedly get more streamers to come and stream on their platform. Also, this is pretty good for PewDiePie since it will help him bring new earnings from his fans.
